Head Coach for 2026 Announced
The Cape Fear Fish Sticks are proud to announce Head Coach Trent Mongero for 2026!
Coach Trent Mongero brings championship credentials and Dirt Bro™ fire to the Cape Fear Fish Sticks. He’s the creator of the popular Winning Baseball book and video series, a national speaker, a former XM Radio host, and one of the most respected infield developers in the country.
Over his high school coaching career, he won 500 plus games, captured two state championships, appeared in four state finals, and made multiple Final Four and Elite Eight runs. His success earned him National High School Coach of the Year, two Georgia Coach of the Year awards, and induction into two halls of fame.
A standout player himself, Coach Trent was the first CAA Division I Player of the Year in 1989 at UNCW, landed on the school’s All-Decade Team, ranked as the sixth “toughest out” in the nation, led the CAA in stolen bases, and earned Florida JUCO Bandit Co honors at SFCC (now South Florida State).
After leading his team to the playoffs in 2022, Coach Trent transitioned into full-time player development, growing his Dirt Bro™ national infield mission alongside his son, Taber Mongero. Through their Dirt Bro™ Elite Infield Academy, they now train high-level infielders across the country and continue to shape the next generation of elite defenders.
This summer, Coach Trent brings his championship mindset, national teaching presence, and Dirt Bro™ edge to the Fish Sticks dugout.
